Funny thing happened while i was vacuum cleaning

As you know i'm a little bit out of dayjob. That means my apartment got a chance to be cleaned up after several month of acting as a place where i can fall to sleep. Always look at the bright side of life! Right? Before starting THE GREAT CLEAN-UP I was listening to some Scott Joplin records. Because i thought of The Sting and felt a bit nostalgic and needed a fix. I'm sentimental if you know what it mean. After the need was satisfied i got up to do the thing.

However i forgot to close the tab. And so YouTube autoplayed at random for some time. While i was deep into noise concert of mine - vacuum cleaning the carpet which looked like a battleground of cut hair, nails, dust, pieces of food and other unidentified stuff including fluff of unknown origin. After i have finished exercising power over vacuum cleaner (Tintern Abbey song review coming soon) - i was surprised to hear The Cult. I was even more surprised when i've found the whole sequence of events.

After "Magnetic Rag" (check out Joshua Rifkin version - it's bliss) was over - i went away from computer to do the cleaning. After this track YouTube suggested to play Pet Shop Boys "Go West". I guess the suggestion was based on my location data. But then the suggestion algorithm switched to genre connections - so the next track was inevitable "West End Girls" (BTW - Gwar cover is superior in every way).

And then the algorithm decided to spice things up a bit. So it was TALK TALK TIME!!!!! Talk Talk Foursome. Whole lotta Talk Talk. There were "Talk Talk", "Living in Another World", "Life's what you make it" and "It's My Life" (no "Such a Shame" though). Here's a funny thing - I haven't listened to Talk Talk outside "Spirit of Eden" for half a decade if not more. Although i was listening to Rowland S. Howard version of "Life's what you make it" lately. Anyway, moving on.

I guess after "It's My Life" algorithm thought there must be some way out of this dead end. I think he thought of No Doubt and shrugged in horror. And what is the better way out of playlist dead end than turning on some good old New Order? Eh.... "Everything's gone green"? Nah! "Bizarre Love Triangle 12" mix"! Loud drums! And then "True Faith" - more loud drums! And then "Blue Monday" - because of course it is going to turn up! And then "Crystal". At least it's a good song.

After Talk Talk / New Order double trouble algorithm had a mental breakdown of sorts and turned amok. Down was the genre-specific suggestion algorithm. Instead came something completely different. And it wanted a bang. So the next track was "Hinterland" by The Cult. Why? Because why not i guess. After all - these guys are from England and who gives a shit! For the record - the last time i listened to The Cult on YouTube was when i was writing an article about multiple versions of the song "The Witch".

Then came the deep cut and everything made perfect sense. "Sound of Destruction" is the song that turned this nonsensical mess into something else (cue "Autumn Leaves"). This is the song that contains a line "truth is just a disease" followed by "a cheap way to please". Just saying... I stopped the whole thing on this song and was slightly annoyed by my lack of attention. It was playing while i was vacuum cleaning the other room. What a waste. And then i looked at the sequence of songs - and got myself puzzled. Apophenia kicked in - so now it was a story.

Pet Shop Boys "Go West" gave a direction to the girls. Talk Talk songs represent some sort of hanging out and flirting. Then New Order songs show further complications - Love Triangle, falling in love (third party?), abuse-related break-up and moment of clarity. Finally The Cult one-two punch gives the whole thing satisfying conclusion. "Hinterland" is a song about going down and fading while "Sound of Destruction" is what it says on the tin. We're in full JG "Crash" mode! I guess the next track was meant to be "Oh Yeah" by Can. But it never happened thanks to my interference . Gotta pity myself for that for a moment or so. Nice sketch of a story though.

Oh! And here's the proof. For your comfort it was reedited the screencap in reverse order:
